Seeking a better world together.
Our Guiding Statement
We seek God in this time and place.
We practice a welcoming faith, work for peace and justice, and enjoy sincere fellowship.
We are becoming the people God calls us to be.

Congregation-present and past
The people of Second Presbyterian Church are loving, caring, curious, and engaged in the world around us, seeking ways to bring our faith to life for the good of our community, our neighbors, and for generations to come.
We’ve been on this journey since 1756 (more than 10 generations) so far. Before there was an Upper West Side, a Central Park, a democratic government, or a public school system in New York City, this community has been bringing faith to life.
We look to our ancestors—John Mason and John Mitchell Mason, the father and son who were the first and second pastors of the “Old Scotch Church;” Isabella Graham, a leader in education whose legacy lives on today in the organization that bears her name, Graham-Windham, and Catherine (Katy) Ferguson a trailblazing educator and philanthropist who was the church’s first full-communing Black member, among others—as our guides who give us inspiration for engaging our faith to confront the pressing social issues of our time.
